Tesamorelin: Growth-Hormone-Releasing Hormone Research and Metabolic Biology
An Elev8 Health editorial review of published scientific and regulatory literature.

Introduction
Tesamorelin is a growth-hormone-releasing hormone analogue that stimulates endogenous growth-hormone signaling and increases IGF-1. Unlike many compounds in the Elev8 research catalog, tesamorelin is also the active ingredient in FDA-approved prescription products for a specific indication. The approved pharmaceutical formulations must not be represented as interchangeable with Elev8 research vials.
Research Areas
Mechanisms
Tesamorelin acts on growth-hormone-releasing hormone receptors, stimulating pulsatile endogenous growth-hormone release with downstream increases in IGF-1.
Human Evidence
Randomized trials involving people with HIV-associated abdominal fat accumulation demonstrated reductions in visceral adipose tissue. Additional research has examined liver fat, metabolic markers, body composition and inflammatory markers.
Human research is presented for scientific and educational context only. Elev8 Health does not recommend that its products be used for anything other than laboratory research purposes, and does not recommend human or veterinary use of any kind.
Preclinical Evidence
Preclinical GHRH-analogue research informed the development pathway, but the compound's evidentiary strength rests on its human trial program.
Limitations
The FDA-approved EGRIFTA formulation has formulation-specific ingredients, strengths, preparation instructions and regulatory approval. Elev8 10 mg and 20 mg research vials are not represented as equivalent, bioequivalent, or interchangeable with EGRIFTA. Trial outcomes were observed in a defined clinical population under medical supervision.
Safety & Regulatory
Approved labeling exists for the pharmaceutical formulation and its specific indication. Elev8 research material is not FDA approved and is offered for laboratory research use only.
Conclusion
Tesamorelin illustrates why formulation matters: strong human evidence exists for an approved product and indication, and that evidence cannot be transferred to research material.
